BBC Asian Network is the BBC's station for British Asian audiences, playing bhangra, Bollywood and pop, with news and talk. The schedule includes daytime music shows, specialist programmes on Punjabi, Bollywood, Bengali and Tamil sounds, discussion about British Asian life, and news bulletins that look at stories of particular interest to the communities it serves. The station grew from regional services in the Midlands and became a national digital station in 2002, and it plays an important role in representing the cultural life of Britain's South Asian communities.
