KQNG Kong Radio 93.5 FM

KQNG Kong Radio 93.5 FM is a contemporary hit radio station broadcasting from Lihue on the Hawaiian island of Kauai. On air it calls itself Kong 93.5 and plays current pop and Top 40 hits for a local audience across the island.

The station began in 1980 as KPOY, became KIPO-FM in 1982 and took the KQNG call letters in 1987. The Kong name refers to the film King Kong, which was shot on Kauai. In 2018 Pacific Media Group bought the KONG Radio Group, including KQNG and its sister stations, from Ohana Broadcast Company. Its signal is also relayed on 105.5 FM through translators. Programming is in English, with the usual mix of chart music, local announcements and community information that suits an island market. Listeners can expect upbeat, mainstream pop rather than niche genres, with local flavor from Kauai.
