919 FM

919 FM is a radio station serving Sandton and the wider Johannesburg area in South Africa, with its studios in Illovo and its transmitter in Bryanston. It describes itself as the heart of Sandton and plays contemporary South African music with an upbeat, feel-good focus, under the tagline Feel good! Anytime! All the time! The station was previously listed under the name Star FM, and its old website address now redirects to the 919 FM site.

The station is operated by the Gauteng Media Development Project NPC. Programming is presented in English and aimed at a local audience that wants positive, easy music through the day, with an emphasis on homegrown artists alongside familiar hits. Detailed programme schedules and presenter line-ups are published on the station website, and they may change over time.

The online stream is delivered as AAC at roughly 86 kbps, which is efficient on mobile data and sounds clean for both music and speech. It plays in your browser on RadioKite without installing any software, so South Africans abroad and anyone curious about the Johannesburg sound can listen at any time, and you can add the station to your favourites.
