Hot 99.5

Hot 99.5 (WIHT, 99.5 FM) is a Top 40 contemporary hit radio station serving the Washington, D.C. area. It plays current pop and chart hits alongside recent favourites, with a mix of local and syndicated on-air personalities.

The station is owned by iHeartMedia, with studios in Rockville, Maryland and its transmitter in Bethesda. The current format launched as Hot 99.5 in April 2001, when the call letters changed to WIHT. Before that, the frequency carried several other formats and call signs, going back to WGAY-FM in 1960. Its HD2 subchannel carries Pride Radio, a Top 40 and dance format. Main competitors in the market include WPGC-FM and WIAD.

The programming is in English and aimed at younger listeners looking for the latest hits. Expect upbeat music, short talk breaks and contests typical of a mainstream Top 40 station. The online stream is delivered by iHeart in AAC format, and the station can also be heard through the iHeartRadio platform.
