About Zitouna FM

Zitouna FM is a Tunisian religious radio station that broadcasts Quran recitation and Islamic programming in Arabic. It takes its name from the Zitouna Mosque and university tradition of Tunis, and it was the first radio in the country dedicated to religious content. Listeners can expect recitations of the Quran, religious talks and related spiritual programmes.

The station was founded in 2007 by the businessman Sakhr El Materi and was originally meant to carry only the Quran. After the events of January 2011 it passed into state hands, and in November 2021 its transfer to the Tunisian Radio Establishment (Radio Tunisienne) was finalised. Its audience is primarily Arabic-speaking Tunisian listeners, though the online stream is open to anyone.

The stream used here is served from the Radio Tunisienne infrastructure as a 128 kbps stereo MP3. Detailed schedule information is not published on the station page, so the exact programme lineup may vary over time.
