Antena 1

Antena 1 is a flagship network of Portugal's public broadcaster RTP. It combines Portuguese music with news, sport, talk and cultural programmes, and it is one of the most important national radio stations in the country. The schedule includes news bulletins, live football coverage, discussion shows, fado and other Portuguese popular music, and programmes on history, literature and society, all in a style that appeals to adult listeners from different backgrounds.

As part of RTP, Antena 1 is financed through public funding and has a duty to promote Portuguese language and culture, which is why it plays a large share of music by Portuguese artists and covers national events in detail. For people from Portugal who live abroad, the stream is a way of keeping in touch with the voices and sounds of home, and for learners of European Portuguese it offers authentic, well-articulated speech. This stream is delivered as AAC at 186 kbps, a high bitrate that provides crisp and detailed sound for both speech and music. It plays in your browser on RadioKite, and you can add it to your favourites for convenient access whenever you want Portuguese radio.
